WELCOME TO THE HAVANA RBA WEBSITE
"CAN YOU MUSTER THE LUSTER?"

Welcome to the Havana Rabbit Breeders Association website.
The Havana breed is one of the oldest breeds in the American Rabbit Breeders Association, dating back to 1916. Our club was established in 1925 making us one of the oldest chartered clubs in the ARBA. The breed has been part of the foundation of a number of current breeds. This is one very competitive breed when picking "Best in Show". If you are curious or new to our breed you will soon discover that the Havana is a fun and challenging breed. Not only do they need a compact body type but also a mink-like fur coat and dark intense color! As you browse though the site you will find information regarding the history of our breed, along with information regarding where you can find quality stock near you. The Havana is a compact breed weighing between 4 1/2 to 6 1/2 lbs. as seniors. They are known for their wonderful fur coat, even temperament, and medium size. There are five recognized varieties listed in the order that they were accepted---Chocolate, Blue, Black, Broken and Lilac. |

103rd ARBA CONVENTION
Hosted by: California Rabbit & Cavy Shows, Inc. Reno, NV October 24-28, 2026 |
Attention fellow Havana Rabbit breeders!
This post is to remind you convention is coming up fast and also please set aside a rabbit or two to enter into the auction! This year at the auction we wanted to do something fun and new to help increase the quality of animals being auctioned. How - once all the hv are up at the auction table, we will have a judge judge them and pick 3 ...a bis and a rbis and first runner up (if you will). They will all be judged as 1 class and not by variety. What's the Incentive? The BIS rabbit will win a cash prize of $100.00 paid to the owner of the rabbit. The RBIS rabbit will win a cash prize of 75.00 paid to the owner. 1st Runner Up will win a cash Prize of $50.00. When? - Before the HV meeting begins place all auction rabbits on the table. While the meeting is taking place, a judge will be judging the animals and picking his/her BIS, RBIS and 1st Runner Up. After selecting their winners, they will write down variety and coop numbers on a piece of paper and put it in a sealed envelope and hand to me. After meeting is over .... everyone comes and looks at the animals. Before the auction starts...the winners will be announced!! Please Note: That any dq'd rabbits will be removed from the auction. A description of the dq will be provided. |
